Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: IN License (or compact as of 7/1/20) required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: - Minimum 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience - Minimum 1 year of MedSurg experience in a large hospital with over 450 beds Description: Candidates must have experience in general medical and surgical nursing care. The unit manages a diverse patient population with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. Candidates will care for patients with gastrointestinal issues such as pancreatitis and bleeding. They will also manage infections like pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff. Care may include patients with neurological issues, including stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries. Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are also part of the patient population. Candidates will care for patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Candidates will utilize electronic health records and various medical equipment. Equipment used in the unit includes electronic health record systems, IV pumps, wound vacs, telemetry monitoring, and feeding pumps. Patient ratios are 1:5-6, and staff will float to areas with the greatest need. 12-hour shifts are required, with 3 weekend shifts in every 4-week schedule. Dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs. Floating within medical units is expected. Orientation includes a general overview of hospital operations and nursing-specific training. The charting system used is electronic health records. BLS and an IN license (or compact license) are required.
