Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant Profession: Nursing Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 18 months Shift: Full Time, Day and Night shifts as needed Hours per Shift: 37.5 hours per week Experience: One year of previous Long Term Care experience License: NYS Nurse Assistant Certification Certifications: BLS (AHA/RQI only) Must-Have: - One year of experience in a Long Term Care or Certified Nurse Assistant capacity - NYS Nurse Assistant Certification - BLS Certification Description: Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs. Provide care needed by the adult and geriatric patient group. Resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, etc. Documentation is completed per protocol. Resident's environment and safety are maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and maintaining cleanliness of the unit. Behavior and fall prevention measures are to be implemented. Appropriate use of equipment and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment are also required. Documentation is completed per protocol. Resident's nutritional needs will be met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and honoring resident preferences. Documentation is completed per protocol. Resident's rehabilitative needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and proper body alignment. Documentation is completed per protocol. Resident's rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to the supervising nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures. Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported promptly. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
