Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Profession: CNA Specialty: LTC Duration: 18 Weeks Shift: Full-Time Evenings Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: One (1) year in LTC or CNA capacity License: NYS Nursing Assistant Certification Certifications: BLS (AHA or RQI certs only) Must-Have: One (1) year of previous LTC experience Description: Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by certification. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Meets the care needed by adult and geriatric patient groups. Resident's Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment. This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence and catheter care, elimination and toileting needs, turning and positioning, skin care, etc. Documentation is completed per protocol. Maintains the resident's environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and restraint use under the direction of Nursing. Maintains cleanliness of the unit, behavior and fall prevention, and appropriate use of and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment. Documentation is completed per protocol. Meets the resident's nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment use, feeding, and nourishments. Honors the resident's preferences and choices. Documentation is completed per protocol. Meets the resident's rehabilitative (restorative and maintenance) needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices. Documentation is completed per protocol. Reports resident's rights, refusals, and concerns to charge nurse or supervising nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures. Identifies and reports changes in resident’s physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to charge nurse promptly. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
