Job Title: Endoscopy Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Acute Care - Endoscopy Duration: 19 weeks Shift: 4x9s/week, scheduled Monday-Friday, with call rotation Hours per Shift: 36 hours/week Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Endoscopy environment License: Valid Registered Nurse Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience serving in an Endoscopy environment as a Registered Nurse Description: The Endoscopy Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The Endoscopy RN provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care throughout the patient’s episode. The RN develops specialized skills in the care of patients admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with various medical conditions. The Endoscopy RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The RN promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a Healing Environment. He/She assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analysis of data obtained through observation, technology, or communication. The RN creates developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plans of care to address identified health problems. In collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members, the RN sets goals and monitors patient progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or changes in condition. He/She promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of patients. The RN encourages mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. He/She teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks consistent with individual education and training. The RN understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. He/She motivates patients and families by teaching what is needed to continue care at home. The RN assesses patient and family learning styles and structures education sessions to maximize understanding. He/She seeks teachable moments during care delivery to emphasize pertinent information and evaluates retention of key points in the self-care process. The RN documents the education provided and the patient’s/family’s response to the education. The RN systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in practice and care delivery. He/She engages in self-evaluation to identify strengths and areas for professional development. The RN takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills. He/She uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses in solutions or approaches to problems. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families. The RN seeks to develop helping, trusting relationships by being present, listening, communicating, and anticipating needs.
