Job Summary
Join a dynamic team as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at MVHS-Wynn, located in Utica, New York. This facility features a comprehensive 64-bed Emergency Department, including 2 Triage rooms, 40 acute care beds, 6 super track beds, 2 Trauma bays, 10 Clinical Decision Units (CDU), and 6 psychiatric beds.
The unit provides critical care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics, presenting with a wide array of high-acuity conditions such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. This role demands a highly skilled and adaptable nurse capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
•
Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population across all age groups (newborn to geriatric) in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting.
•
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for conditions including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
•
Administer a wide range of critical medications and drips, including pressors (e.g., Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine), vasodilators (e.g., Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG), anti-arrhythmics (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido), sedatives (e.g., Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
•
Operate specialized equipment such as Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
•
Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
•
Float to other units as required by facility needs to support patient care.
•
Ability to provide care to all assigned patients, including those requiring Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) care.
Required Qualifications
•
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
•
Demonstrated experience with pediatric patients.
•
Travel nursing experience is required.
•
Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
•
Charge Nurse capability.
Skills & Competencies
•
Clinical Skills: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessment, comprehensive medication administration (including critical drips), rapid assessment and intervention for critical patients, trauma care, sepsis management, cardiac arrest management.

Equipment: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun.
•

Licensing Requirements
•
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.

•
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
•
Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
