Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7A-7P Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience required Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process to cardiac monitoring and intervention, sedation, pain management, chest tube care and insertion, and medication administration. Provides pre and post cardiac catheterization care, TPN/PPN, KODA access, and care for central lines. Demonstrates knowledge of specialized IV drips and titration, IV therapy, IVADD waive testing, and transfusion therapy. Maintains accurate nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses the psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious or spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate while demonstrating the principles of growth and development across the lifespan. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of individualized care plans. Reviews, revises, updates, and resolves plans of care daily. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning, including family as appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care and allocates and monitors their work. Assists physicians with procedures as needed. Responds promptly to changes in workload to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, literature, meetings, and workshops. Maintains the operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility and organization while functioning under stress. Meets departmental specific competencies and performs housekeeping duties when necessary. Assists with the transportation of patients as needed. Adheres to dress code and infection control policies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
