Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and PCA pump experience. Description: This facility has 457 licensed beds and is designated as a Trauma Level III center. It is recognized as a teaching hospital and has earned accolades as a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence. The unit includes 10 beds with an average daily census of 8 patients. The patient population commonly includes those with chest pain, syncope, and angina. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Certified Nursing Assistants provide support with a ratio of 1:10. Support within the department includes supervisory roles, Charge RNs (who may or may not have patients), and Resource RNs who assist with admissions and discharges. Respiratory Therapy and Clientist services are available 24/7 but are not dedicated to this unit specifically. Phlebotomy efforts are a collaborative task between RNs and the IV team. The facility utilizes the EPIC EMR system, Alaris IV Pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing. Travel nurses are expected to demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility when floating to other units according to patient care needs. They will float based on regional needs and may be required to serve across multiple facilities within scope of practice. Travel nurses will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotations require working every other weekend, and holiday expectations are for travelers to work 75% of the holidays. Request for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, but must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Shift times vary within the hours of 0650-1910 and 1850-0710 with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks.
