Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Oncology / Thoracic Surgery – Wisconsin

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Flexible scheduling options available including 4x12 schedules and block weekend scheduling (Friday-Sunday). Patient ratios: 1:3 for general care, 1:2 for IMC patients. 36 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
•
Work in a fast-paced, 29-bed progressive care unit supporting both Telemetry Oncology and Thoracic Surgery patients
•
Care for acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities including specialty populations: Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
•
Level I Trauma Center experience in an academic medical setting with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
•
Epic EMR system utilized for documentation
•
Magnet-designated facility recognized as Wisconsin's top-ranked hospital and a leading teaching institution
•
Opportunity to care for both general care and IMC level patients requiring critical thinking and collaborative teamwork
Requirements:
•
Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
•
BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
•
Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting
•
Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and progressive care experience required
•
Ventilator management and transplant care experience required (strong proficiency mandatory)
•
Experience in an Academic Level I or II Trauma Center or similar size hospital required
•
Previous travel nursing experience required
•
Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
•
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
•
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Key Skills and Competencies:
•
Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
•
Ventilator care and non-invasive airway management (BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula)
•
Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
•
Central line, PICC line, and port management
•
Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and surgical drain care
•
Cardiac drip and insulin drip titration protocols
•
Post-transplant patient care experience
•
Blood product administration and heparin protocols
•
Experience with trauma patients, post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
