Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Orthopedic/Medical-Surgical – West Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, weekdays with every other weekend required. 36-hour or 48-hour weekly contract options available (3x12 or 4x12). Overtime applies after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules. Float assignments within scope of practice as needed to meet facility needs.
Highlights:

Orthopedic/Medical-Surgical unit specializing in bone and joint reconstructive surgery, joint replacement, orthopedic trauma, sports injuries, and med/surg overflow
•
Patient ratios typically 1:4, occasionally flexing to 1:5; team nursing model
•
Remote telemetry monitoring supported by off-unit tech station; adult patient population (18+)
•
Electronic charting via Cerner; free parking provided for travel staff
•
855-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
•
Orientation held bi-weekly on Thursdays and Fridays (16 hours total)
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
•
At least 1 year of orthopedic or medical-surgical specialty experience preferred
•
Active West Virginia or Compact state RN license (pending licenses accepted for submission)
•
BLS certification required; ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale preferred (all certifications must be AHA-approved)
•
Telemetry experience and proficiency with IV starts, cardiac drips (Cardizem, heparin, nitro, argatroban, amiodarone, dopamine), and specialized equipment (CPMs, Orthopat, Constavac, Hemovac, wound vacs, traction)
•
Permanent address must be 100+ miles from facility (75-99 miles may be reviewed on case-by-case basis)
•
Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
•
Influenza vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented by physician or allergist; COVID-19 vaccination not required
