# Job Opportunity – Trauma Stepdown RN – West Virginia
Start Date: October 29, 2026
Location: Charleston, West Virginia

Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, weekdays with every other weekend required. Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs. Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests with advance notice.
Highlights:
•
Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 855 staffed beds
•
37-bed unit: 25 medical/surgical trauma beds, 6 trauma stepdown beds, and 6 pediatric beds (travelers will not be assigned pediatric patients)
•
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 on medical/surgical floor, 1:3 in stepdown unit
•
Multidisciplinary team approach caring for multi-system trauma and surgical patients
•
Cerner charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy
•
36 or 48-hour contract options available with 36 hours guaranteed
Requirements:
•
Minimum 2 years RN experience; 1 year in-specialty experience required (PCU, IMC, Trauma, or Stepdown)
•
First-time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU or Trauma
•
West Virginia or Compact RN License required (pending license accepted for submission)
•
BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association); TNCC preferred
•
CPI certification and fit test required prior to start
•
Skills: IV start, ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, Level 1 Trauma experience
•
Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption provided
•
Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from past 2 years required
•
Must reside 100+ miles from facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case)
