Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Nurse (Cardiac Unit) – Western North Carolina

Schedule: Day shift or night shift available; every other weekend required. Patient ratios 1:4 (stretch staffing at 1:5). Day shift includes 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary. Night shift includes 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 3 PCTs.
Highlights:
•
40-bed cardiac progressive care unit specializing in CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures
•
Experience with complex cardiac patients including post-cardiac cath/stent, post-pacer/ICD/ablation procedures
•
Electronic medical record system: Cerner
•
Equipment includes Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners
•
Opportunity to work with titratable cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, and heparin
•
Cross-training opportunities with floating to other Med-Surg units, stepdown units, and ER holding
Requirements:
•
Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state license
•
Progressive care or stepdown unit experience required
•
Telemetry monitoring experience required
•
Demonstrated experience with titratable cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Bumex/Lasix)
•
BLS and ACLS certifications required
•
Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) strongly preferred
•
Relief charge experience preferred
•
Familiarity with bedside cardioversion procedures a plus
