Must be stroke certified and have experience caring for stroke patients. Candidates should have prior experience in telemetry, stepdown, or high acuity settings. There is a 50-mile radius rule. No local candidates are accepted. Travelers must not have been perm or per diem within the past 12 months. Candidates cannot hold a second job and must prioritize the travel assignment schedule. Profile review will be conducted. There will be no prescreen interview. If clinical recommends, there will be an interview with the manager. Level II facility with experience in Cerner EMR preferred. If placed on standby, response time is within 30 minutes. If not called in while on standby, that counts as a cancellation under the cancellation policy. Travelers can extend their assignment up to one year. The region is central to national parks, with various nearby lakes for outdoor sports and trails. Affordable housing options are available. The unit has 34 beds. Certifications needed for this role include BLS and ACLS. Patient ratios are 1 to 4. Charge nurses are present on each shift, but normally do not take patients. Nurse aides are available, but there is no set ratio for aides. The requirement includes two weekends every four weeks and participation in holiday staffing similar to core staff. Scrub color is navy. Telemetry monitoring is handled by external monitor techs, and nurses are required to read and interpret their own strips. Vent equipment includes BiPAP. There is a hospitalist on site 24/7, with respiratory and pharmacy services also available around the clock. No call is required for this position. Shifts available include both day and night options. Floats will primarily move to other telemetry floors. If there is Cerner experience, orientation may be two days; if not, it could be three days. Common diagnoses include stroke recovery, respiratory failure, diabetes, hypertension, and post-operative care. Please be aware that travelers may not always have a nurse aide and will perform primary nursing duties. There may be availability for extra shifts at times, but block scheduling or set shifts will not be accommodated. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done using Cerner.
