The Registered Nurse focuses on safe effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job responsibilities include: Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrate the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care. Review and revise the plan as indicated. Collaborate with the patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilize resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient/family needs. This includes care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Function as a mentor/preceptor. Demonstrate, encourage, and facilitate teamwork. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement appropriately. Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implement practice changes. Comply with regulatory standards and participate in the Practice Governance model.
