The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of a recognized Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. The RN reviews and revises the plan as indicated. The RN collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. This education is appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor/preceptor. The RN demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. The RN identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes. The RN complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
