Contracts of either 13 or 26 weeks will be accepted. Up to 2 major holidays can be requested off. This unit requires travelers to work only 1 of 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Eve, New Year's Eve. The campus is noted for its beautiful surroundings and strong staff camaraderie. Opportunities for group activities such as book clubs and dinners are available. Candidates who have been permanent employees of any other facility are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. All facilities honor active compact licenses. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required, and first-time travelers are accepted. The patient diagnoses include labor and preterm labor. The unit has 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, and scrub duties, focusing on low-risk antepartum and low-risk labor delivery. Special procedures include blood and blood products administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, cooling and warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. The role involves administering heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. Travelers will attend all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries, and assist with GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery. The staffing ratio is 1:1 to 3. Traveler responsibilities may include floating to postpartum and potentially other units based on skill set. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment. Providers must have experience in administration of blood and blood products, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and pain assessment and management. Reference requirements include providing two references covering one year within the last three years during the compliance process and prior to starting. Completion of modules is required before starting and annually thereafter. Time spent on modules is self-reported. Completion will be recorded in training transcripts.
