The Registered Nurse is delegated an assignment by the Patient Care Coordinator to achieve quality patient care. They shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator and Physicians. Documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation, and patient evaluations of care reflect their work. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Patient Care Coordinator for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned to the Registered Nurse by the Patient Care Coordinator and/or Patient Care Manager. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Assesses and intervenes appropriately when a patient's condition worsens and requires immediate attention. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. Provides the care needed based on these assessments. Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for the patient population. This includes administering medications, starting intravenous access, and maintenance of intravenous lines and Foley catheters. Venipuncture, administration of blood products, restraint application and monitoring, and sterile dressing will also be performed. They perform both complex and routine treatments as ordered by a physician. Demonstrates technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used. This includes traction, wound vacuum systems, sequential compression devices, and telemetry monitoring devices. They will also handle blood glucose monitoring devices, specialty beds, and assist in safe patient positioning. Assists patients using various devices such as abduction pillows, splints, slings, and braces. Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation. Conducts bedside shift reports and verbal communication effectively. Communicates pertinent patient information to all healthcare team members. Maintains clinical skills, staying current with competencies, equipment, and certifications required. Embraces and practices a caring philosophy in all interactions. Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care. Promptly intervenes when clinical changes occur to prevent complications in patients needing care. Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes established values of customer service and safety. Demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions. Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies efficiently and ensuring timely discharges. Keeps incremental overtime to a minimum.
