Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), every other weekend required, floating to similar units as needed, call required if called off on a prescheduled shift
Highlights:

Specialized oncology unit caring for patients receiving and recovering from chemotherapy and immunotherapy
•
13-26 week contracts available with facility-provided onsite training and support
•
Chemotherapy certification (ONS Fundamentals) preferred or willingness to obtain during assignment; facility covers training costs and provides comprehensive onsite education
•
Patient ratio typically 1:6 on a 42-bed unit serving a general medical-surgical and oncology patient population
•
Free access to oncology and chemotherapy continuing education courses eligible for CEUs through the Cancer Institute
•
EMR: Epic, Pyxis medication system, SBAR communication protocols
•
24-hour orientation (2 shifts) with supportive team environment
Requirements:
•
Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
•
Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience in medical-surgical setting
•
Current BLS certification required
•
ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred, or commitment to obtain prior to or during assignment
•
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
•
Experience with accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and chemotherapy monitoring
•
Familiarity with surgical drains, chest tubes, insulin and heparin administration, and non-invasive airway management
•
Ability to float to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding areas
•
Availability to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team as required during catastrophic events
•
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
