Job Opportunity – Medical ICU Registered Nurse – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only), with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs. If you accept a rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both.
Highlights:

24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit with diverse, complex patient population including adult and geriatric patients
•
Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleeds, sepsis, and autoimmune disorders
•
Advanced critical care procedures: mechanical ventilation, CRRT, pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial pressure monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
•
Epic electronic medical records system required
•
72-hour comprehensive orientation provided
•
First-time travelers welcome; minimum 2 years acute care ICU experience required
Requirements:
•
Current Ohio RN license or valid Compact license in hand at time of submission
•
Minimum 2 years recent, current acute care Medical ICU experience (must be actively working in specialty within the last 12 months)
•
Epic charting system experience required
•
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
•
Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, arterial line management, central line care, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, and blood product administration
•
Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
•
2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)
•
Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
Special Requirements:
•
Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions
•
Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing
•
Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
•
Former facility employees must have been away from the facility for 6+ months to be eligible
•
Requested time off must be submitted with application and built into contract
Unit Details:
•
Daily census: 23 patients across 24 rooms
•
Interdisciplinary support including interpretation services
•
Equipment: NxStage CRRT machines, Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement systems, Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors
•
Common procedures: bronchoscopy, endoscopy, chest tube management, external ventricular drains, and clinical trial protocols
