Job Title: Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Location: Rochester, NY | Acute Care
Schedule / Job Type: Contract | Evening Shift | 4x10-Hour Shifts | 13:00–23:30
Key Responsibilities
Provide perioperative nursing care across a diverse OR service line including Ortho/Total Joint, Trauma, Neuro, GYN/Urology, Vascular, and Thoracic specialties.
Assist with and support a broad range of surgical procedures including laparoscopic, robotic (Da Vinci Xi), open, and endoscopic cases.
Perform phlebotomy and IV placement as mandatory competencies required for all RNs in this role.
Participate in on-call responsibilities as required by the unit.
Adhere to universal protocol (time-out procedures), infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and specimen handling/labeling standards.
Float to other areas within the facility as needed.
Required Qualifications
•
Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted.
•
BLS certification required.
•
Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience.
•
EPIC experience is a hard requirement.
•
Experience in Ortho/Total Joint, Trauma, Neuro, GYN/Urology, Vascular, and Thoracic surgical specialties required.
•
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be accepted.
Preferred Experience / Skills
•
Prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will not be considered for this role.
•
Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgery, including the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System.
•
Experience with complex vascular and thoracic procedures (e.g., AAA repair, VATS, carotid endarterectomy).
•
Ability to accommodate a block schedule; scheduling flexibility is appreciated.
