Summary:
- A professional nurse is an individual accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe effective patient and family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
- The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education and satisfaction. The RN applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Education (Required): Diploma or Associate
Certification (Required): Registered Nurse
Responsibilities:
- 20%-Assessment Performs assessments & reassessments per policy & procedure or as warranted by patient condition: demonstrates ability to make sound independent decisions.
- 20%-Development & implementation Initiates, prioritizes and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patient/family & interdisciplinary services; utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization/ patent/family. - 15% -Evaluation Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions
- 25%-Education Facilitates/coordinates/provides/evaluates education specific to patient/family needs and as appropriate to the care, treatment and services provided during their stay and at discharge.
- 20%-L.eadership Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel: functions as a mentor/preceptor; demonstrates/encourages/facilitates teamwork; identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement, participates in quality, safety and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes: complies with regulatory standards: participates in the Practice Governance model
