About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 18 months in specialty within the past 3 years License: GA or compact license in hand Certifications: CCRN preferred Must-Have: Requires PA lines. Experience with presurgical patients. No local travelers within a 50-mile radius. Experience handling low acuity critical care patients. Description: The unit is a 12-bed, 24-hour observation unit utilized by the heart and vascular service line. Patients will include low acuity critical care patients awaiting placement in higher-level care units. Ventilators, CRRT, and Impellas will not be accepted on this unit. The unit will accommodate LVADs, 2-4 drips, arterial lines, and PA catheters. It will also serve as an observation area for patients needing longer monitoring after same-day procedures. This unit will be fast-paced, with a high volume of patient turnover and a wide variety of diagnoses. It provides an excellent learning environment for cardiovascular procedures and diagnoses. Working in this environment will enhance organizational skills and critical thinking. This position offers the opportunity to develop critical care skills and fine-tune assessment abilities. A rhythm identification test will be required upon starting, with two opportunities to pass. The test is not multiple choice.
