Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on health problems. The RN develops and implements individualized plans of care and evaluates the patient's responses. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by assisting them through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. Responsibilities include delegating interventions to healthcare personnel based on the patient's condition and team competencies. The RN conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards and prioritizes patient and family needs. The RN modifies the plan of care based on clinical outcomes and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Creating a compassionate and supportive environment for patients and families is essential. The RN develops therapeutic relationships while managing both emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing. The RN recognizes and incorporates unique patient differences, such as spiritual beliefs and lifestyle, into care plans. The RN advocates for patient rights and concerns, ensuring care reflects patient values and goals. Facilitating learning for patients, families, and healthcare team members is another key responsibility. The RN works collaboratively with colleagues to implement integrated care plans. Effective problem-solving strategies for patient care are utilized, considering safety and resource limitations.
