About the Position

Job Title: Progressive Care Unit RN (Stepdown) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: BSN not required Description: This is a 24-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4, depending on acuity. Patient population includes those with dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary issues, sepsis, high flow oxygen needs, and behavioral patients requiring intravenous drip medications. An educator is present on the unit to work closely with staff. Medications administered include dopamine, levophed, cardizem, heparin, precedex, nitro, amiodarone, dobutamine, and nicardipine. Scheduled shifts may include working weekends. Throughput on the unit is typically high, as expected with step down units. Charting is done using the EPIC system. Cancellation policy allows for 3 shifts per 13-week contract or 2 shifts per 12-week contract.
