About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Travel experience preferred Charting experience with Epic Previous charge experience preferred Description: Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Nursing Process for patients in various age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Documents thoroughly as care is delivered, following regulatory and hospital requirements. Assumes responsibility for clinical competencies and professional development of self and others. Practices in a clinical environment through the application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Ability to work varied shifts and/or days including weekends and holidays. Must be able to utilize good judgment, demonstrate patience, and utilize best practices for patient care as expected by department leaders. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Must be able to work in a busy, stressful environment where practice changes to meet new patient safety requirements and goals. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records software are required. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage workload expectations are essential. Effective interpersonal verbal communication and advanced math skills are required. Demonstrates creativity, problem analysis, teamwork, and decision-making abilities. Patient Diagnoses include: Sepsis CIWA Confusion Acute mental status changes Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Post-operative care Acute kidney injury Trauma Respiratory failure Bowel obstruction Pyelonephritis Cardiac conditions Diabetes Gastrointestinal conditions Isolation Staffing and Scheduling: Staffing includes a patient ratio of 1:6. Weekend coverage is required with flexible scheduling needs. Pre-approved time off must be submitted in accordance with department policy. Unit Details: Supports an interdisciplinary approach with various teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy. Required Skills: Accessing and managing ports BiPAP/CPAP management Blood product administration Colostomy/ileostomy management Continuous bladder irrigation Interpretation of arterial blood gases Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment usage Management of various medical devices and interventions This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and are committed to providing high-quality patient care.
