About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required. Traveler experience is required unless the traveler has more than 24 months of cardiac experience. License: NC or Compact license pending acceptable for submittal. Certifications: BLS & ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation. Candidates must be open to floating within the facility as needed. Travel pairs are allowed but must be on different units and disclosed. Description: The position requires expertise in cardiac telemetry and management of various cardiac conditions. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients with diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and other cardiac issues. Skills needed include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI care, and handling of cardiac drips. Experience with sheath removal, post-cardiac catheterization care, and management of chest tubes is important. Candidates should have experience with external CPAP/BIPAP and non-invasive airway management. The patient-to-nurse ratio may vary based on acuity, typically ranging from 1:4 for surgical step-down to 1:5-6 for lower acuity. Wound care, charge experience, and arterial line management are preferred skills. The unit uses medication documentation and communication systems effectively. Physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and other interdisciplinary support are available. Familiarity with equipment such as EKG monitors, Doppler, and bladder scanners is essential. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in managing various patient care scenarios and be adept in emergency situations.
