About the Position
RN - MedSurg/Tele
• About Facility:
o 201 E. Grover St, Shelby NC 28150
o 241 licensed beds
o Level 3 Trauma
o Teaching Hospital? No
o Certified Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
• Unit Information:
o Beds: 24
• Average Daily Census: 24
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Various diagnoses - Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, etc.
o Fast-paced, Observation
• Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:5-6 (Day and Night) - in surge staffing could see ratios of up to 1:7-8
o CNA: 1:12
• Required Licensure & Certifications:
o RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Skills required:
o Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating Cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), general medical/surgical skillset - care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.
• Support within the Department:
o CNA - 1:12 ratio
o No HUC
o Charge nurse - may have patient assignment, always a resource for staff
o Phlebotomy
o IV/VAT Team
o RT, 24/7
o Hospitalist - on site Dayshift; Virtual in evenings/overnight
o Intensivist, 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring - remote with Tele tech
• Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC-at least 6 months experience required (please include how much experience in offer)
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Massimo in all rooms
• Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs - will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice - DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
• Orientation (facility and unit) :
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
• Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Shift times : 0645-1915; 1845-0715
o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
