About the Position
Job Title: Travel RN - Post Partum Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Partum / Mom Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Couplet Care Competencies Breastfeeding Support Description: The unit has 32 operational beds. There are 59 total staff members, including full-time, part-time, and PRN positions. Staffing includes Day Shift Charge, RN, PCT, and HUC. Night Shift staffing consists of Charge, RN, PCT, and HUC. Patient ratios are typically 1:3 couplets, which may vary based on the mix of patients. The unit utilizes EMR Meditech & CPN for electronic medical records. There is no on-call requirement for staff. Floating may occur to Ante for postpartum overflow and labor and delivery recoveries. The most recruited skill set includes travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters. Candidates who do not have the required skills will not be considered for this role. Preferred candidates will have Mother Baby Charge experience and experience with late-preterm or transitional newborns. Typical procedures performed on the unit include newborn screenings, blood glucose monitoring, jaundice monitoring, perineal and incision care, and feeding support. The ideal personality fit for this position is compassionate, team-oriented, detail-focused, and able to work well under pressure. Various evidence-based policies guide patient care in the unit. Additional operational standards include hourly rounding for safety and patient satisfaction, and bedside shift reporting. The unit provides a flexible scheduling environment with generally steady patient ratios. Extra shifts are often available for staff. Team members have a diverse range of experience, including many newer nurses. The unit promotes a positive and respectful work environment. Staff enjoy coming to work in the supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
