About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Neuro and Trauma Care experience Description: The Progressive Care Unit has 44 beds and is staffed by a team of 95. The day shift includes 2 CNC/Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. The night shift consists of the same staffing patterns. Patient ratios are 4:1 during regular staffing and may stretch to 5:1. Common equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and patient lifts. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Candidates must have certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Neuro and trauma care experience is a significant requirement. Typical procedures performed include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO brace application, chest tube management, PCA pump administration, IV infusions, lumbar drain placement, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions. The ideal candidate is a team player and is patient-focused. The unit may require floating to stepdown or medical-surgical units. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
