About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse First Assistant Profession: Nursing Specialty: Registered Nurse First Assist Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours, with a 0630 start time Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current licensure with the Board of Registered Nursing Certifications: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR), Current CPR, Current ACLS recognition Must-Have: Must be credentialed through the medical staff office (processing time: 6-8 weeks) Description: The Registered Nurse First Assistant is a licensed professional who provides direct patient care within a perioperative role. The RNFA functions as a first assistant to the surgeon. The RNFA practices an expanded role of perioperative nursing. The RNFA has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon. This role includes organized instruction and supervised practice. The RNFA operates under the supervision of the surgeon in the operating room and labor and delivery suite.
