About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS; TNCC preferred Must-Have: Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients. ICU experience. Positive attitude and flexibility. Teamwork and a desire for excellence. Self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a diverse environment. Description: The unit has 26 beds with a patient ratio of 2:1. Total care is provided by RNs. Staff includes RNs and unit support personnel. The unit is equipped with ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, and glucometers. iMobile phones and technology are utilized by all staff. Staff uses personal protective equipment including masks, face shields, goggles, and PAPRs for COVID-19 patients. Documentation is completed using a specific clinical documentation system. All nursing shifts are 12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM with every other weekend required. Holidays may be required. Nursing staff may float to other units as necessary, with priority given to intensive care units. Staff is expected to perform hourly rounding and bedside hand-off reporting. Completion of care boards during report is required. A focus on compassionate care is emphasized. The unit is certified for several excellence pathways and is actively working towards enhanced certifications. Required advanced skills include ventilator management and critical care knowledge. Thorough assessment skills are necessary. Knowledge of cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems is required. Procedures performed on the unit include intubations, cardioversions, and management of various critical care therapies. The dress code includes specific colors for scrubs, with additional options provided for those working with COVID-19 patients. Several staff members hold national certifications and there is a strong emphasis on teamwork and technology integration. The unit has received recognition for excellence in quality measures and performance.
