About the Position
Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: BSN Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience with experience in drips, vents, bipaps Description: This position requires passing an exam during orientation. The exam is open book and focuses on skills learned. Candidates must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated. Candidates must reside outside a specified radius. Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract. Nurses will care for patients with various critical conditions. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and myocardial infarction. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 but may stretch to 1:3. Nurses may float to lower levels of care such as PCU and Medsurg. Training is provided for floating duties. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedatives. A charge nurse is present on each shift and will take an assignment. There are no nurse aids or patient care techs on the unit. A hospitalist is available 24/7 in-house. Intensivists are available during the day and by telemedicine at night. RT services are shared with the emergency room. RNs are required to read and verify their own telemetry strips. Scheduled shifts are from 1830 to 0700. Nurses are required to work every third weekend. Holiday coverage is required on specified holidays. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Nurses must wear navy blue scrubs. Floating is required to lower care levels with training provided. RTO must be submitted upfront and additional RTO will not be approved. The charting system is EPIC.
