About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Trauma ICU

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Trauma ICU setting, managing critically ill adult and pediatric patients (ages 15+) with diagnoses including trauma, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest
  • Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics per physician orders and unit protocols
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry; no monitor techs on unit
  • Manage and troubleshoot advanced hemodynamic monitoring equipment including arterial lines, CVPs, Swan-Ganz catheters, ICP monitoring, EV-1000, IABP, and Impella devices
  • Operate and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
  • Float to inpatient units across the facility as needed, excluding Maternity and NICU

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN licensure in good standing
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Prior ICU experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Ability to pass an open-book skills competency exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
  • Ability to read and independently interpret cardiac rhythm strips
  • Artificial nails are prohibited per facility patient care policy; compliance is required

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices such as IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, and ICP monitoring
  • Experience in a high-acuity Level I trauma center environment
  • Familiarity with hypothermia protocols and rapid transfusion systems
