About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / IMC / Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a progressive care patient population including acute stroke management (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), post neurosurgical patients, seizure management, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barré, and encephalopathy
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips and manage patients on various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions
• Perform and assist with specialized procedures including lumbar punctures, arterial line management, central line care, lumbar drain management, IV starts, peripheral lab draws, and arterial blood draws
• Conduct and document NIHSS assessments and provide neurological monitoring for assigned patients
• Manage tracheotomy patients and provide care for complex neuro-spine surgical patients including craniotomy and ventriculostomy cases
• Adhere to scheduling requirements including holiday, weekend, and no-blocked-scheduling policies; submit all time-off requests prior to assignment confirmation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact State license
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry or PCU experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Must successfully complete EKG and pharmacology exam during the pre-start compliance process
• Must meet local radius requirements for travel assignments

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Neurology or neurosurgical nursing experience
