About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Oncology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day/Night 3x12-Hour Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years RN experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BCLS required Must-Have: - Previous experience in a medical/surgical oncology setting preferred - EPIC experience required - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias - Ability to access ports and manage arterial lines - Experience with blood product administration and central line care Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a medical/surgical oncology unit. The role involves caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and symptom management. Continuous cardiac monitoring will be a key part of patient care. Nurses will manage comorbidities and focus on infection prevention and patient falls. Special equipment used includes telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, and infusion pumps. Nurses are required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity. Emergency interventions may include assisting with chest tube insertion and high flow nasal cannula management. Candidates should have experience with intravenous starts and tracheostomy care. Ideal candidates will prioritize safety and effective patient management in a fast-paced environment. The majority of patients are adults with various cancer diagnoses. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams will be essential in providing comprehensive care. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing patient needs and unit requirements.
