About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of recent experience required License: State license required in hand to submit Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy Knowledge of respiratory care, including nasal cannula and oxygen administration Familiarity with isolation precautions Description: Registered Nurses need to have mandatory competency in phlebotomy as this is a required skill. Competence in placing IVs is also mandatory for all Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses will be required to interpret dysrhythmias and manage patients accordingly. The role includes the use of rapid response teams and knowledge of their activation. Peripheral line care and management are necessary components of the job. Registered Nurses should be skilled in non-invasive airway management. Patient diagnoses will include cardiovascular issues and wounds. The position entails working with a team that includes IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 5 to 1 during days and evenings, with potential stretches of 6 to 7. Night ratios are expected to be 6 to 7 to 1, with possible stretches of up to 10 if staffing issues arise. Travelers are required to float to various units as needed, ensuring care is provided within their scope of practice. All travelers are required to work every other weekend. Experience with computerized documentation is preferred. Knowledge of Epic or similar charting systems is a hard requirement. Phlebotomy skills are essential, along with experience in isolation precautions and PPE usage. The role requires the capacity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care. This position will include caring for adult and geriatric populations. Professional skills in interpreting vital signs and managing critical situations are necessary.
