About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year (Preferred 2 years) License: Must be active prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must pass telemetry rhythm identification quiz. Must have telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience. Some cardiac drip experience is required. Available drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix. Experience with high acuity patients including renal patients and all modes of oxygenation other than vents. Description: Position is for a Registered Nurse on a step-down unit. Nurses must be proficient in reading, identifying, and reacting to cardiac rhythms. This unit deals with various telemetry, stroke, and CHF diagnoses. Responsibilities include monitoring chest pain, myocardial infarction, syncope, hypertension, and overdoses. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 during the assigned shifts. There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend. Holiday coverage is also required every other holiday. Team members will float within scope to meet facility needs. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. A rescue nurse is available to assist with bedside procedures. This is a busy unit that primarily serves adult and geriatric patients.
