About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: 1 year(s) License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 1 year experience, okay with first-time travelers. Must be a good team player. Description: The department focuses on Telemetry nursing. The unit consists of 24 beds. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Common diagnoses include heart failure, COPD, sepsis, AFIB, pneumonia, stroke, detox, and suicidal holds. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common medication administered includes Diltiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and Lidocaine. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who does not take patients. An administrative supervisor is present on-site 24/7. Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are available with a 1:8 ratio. There will be 3 CNAs if the unit is full. Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP and BiPAP. If patients are on BiPAP for more than 4 hours, they will transfer to ICU. High flow oxygen is also utilized. Telemetry technicians are available on the unit. RNs are required to sign off on their strips. Shifts are scheduled by the unit scheduler. Shifts can be blocked or grouped together. Weekend requirements are as needed and may involve filling in gaps. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to other departments may occur. Travelers can work as lead if experienced. Staff utilizes a team nursing model. If the unit is at full capacity, there will be a charge nurse with 7 RNs on the floor. Two of the RNs will act as leads to assist others. Travelers may get the opportunity to work in a lead role based on experience. This facility has a radius rule for candidates.
