About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required. 1 year of specialty experience required. License: WV or Compact RN License required. Certifications: BLS; NRP preferred; CLC preferred. Must-Have: Every other weekend required. First-timers not accepted. Must have previous travel experience. Description: The Mother-Baby floor is a private room unit. We care for postpartum patients, stable antepartum patients, and well or slightly ill newborns. Nurses are trained to work on the floor and in the Newborn Nursery. In the Newborn Nursery, we manage mild respiratory distress syndrome, newborn hypoglycemia, cardiac monitoring, phototherapy, IV antibiotics, and manage babies going through withdrawal. We deliver approximately 2800 patients annually. The Mother-Baby unit also supports breastfeeding families needing additional help. Two full-time certified lactation specialists are on staff. Staff includes Nurse Manager, Clinical Management Coordinator, permanent Charge Nurses, Registered Nurses, LPNs, Nurse externs, Health Unit coordinators, and Nursing Assistants. Ratios required are 1:6 for days and 1:8 for nights. Patient diagnoses include postpartum, antepartum, NAS, hyperbilirubinemia, neonatal sepsis, low birth weight infants, small for gestational age, large for gestational age, and hypoglycemia. Skills required include antepartum care, newborn care, medication administration, and discharge teaching for parents. Nurses may be floated within scope to meet facility needs when necessary. Candidate must have a permanent address 100 miles from the facility. Candidates between 75 and 100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Minimum 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from the past 2 years are required.
