About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience, strong surgical intermediate care experience, at least 2 previous travel assignments License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, Critical Care Certification preferred Must-Have: - Experience with high acuity patients - Experience taking care of patients who are 1+ days out from CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements - Experience caring for patients with mechanical circulatory support devices like LVADs - Experience caring for patients recovering from heart and lung transplants - Familiarity with EPIC for managing high acuity intermediate care patients Description: This is a fast-paced surgical step-down unit. The unit cares for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries. Registered nurses will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night. The unit consists of 32 beds with mixed levels of care. There are 12 beds available for continuous cardiac monitoring. The remaining beds are for telemetry and non-monitored levels of care. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong critical care skills and an understanding of post-operative management.
