About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation, neonatal resuscitation, newborn and maternal assessment, and IV skills Description: This position involves the management of labor and delivery, postpartum maternal care, newborn care, and GYN surgical patients. The unit utilizes paper charting, an electronic medication administration record, external fetal monitors, dopplers, infant warmers, newborn scales, and electronic blood pressure machines. The nurse will be responsible for assessing fetal heart rates, resuscitating neonates, and providing comprehensive assessments for newborns and mothers. The shift involves working 12-hour shifts and includes weekends. There is no call requirement. During the shift, the employee will never be assigned the role of charge nurse and will not be the only RN available in the birthing center. Floating to assist in other departments will occur, but the nurse will not have a patient assignment while doing so. The unit accommodates two birthing rooms and four postpartum rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 during active labor. Hospital-issued scrubs are required. Training includes familiarization with systems and departmental orientation through two clinical shifts. A cancellation policy requires a two-week notice. This position operates in an acute care setting.
