About the Position

The Cayuga Birthplace opened in 2014. Located on the first floor, it has six Labor and Delivery Rooms, two Labor triage rooms, eleven Post Partum Rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in addition to four single family NICU rooms (these rooms allow for individualized and family centered infant care). There is also a Cesarean Section Surgical Operating Room and PACU within the Labor and Delivery Suite. Staff are Post Partum trained as well as cross trained to Labor and Delivery, NICU or both. The Registered Nurse on Maternal Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the Maternal Child Health department. This position will work collaboratively with Unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Maternal Child Health (AWONN, ACOG, NNA, AORN). These responsibilities will include the observation data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional educational and spiritual needs. Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. Plans for care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current on CMC policies, procedures and standards. Acts as a resource to peers. Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of CMC health team members. Facilitates the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Labor and Delivery experience required, postpartum experience preferred. Employee Resigned/Termed
