About the Position
Job Title: Staff RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care, PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 3 years required License: Valid license to practice nursing Certifications: CPR required Must-Have: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle multiple priorities; critical thinking skills Description: The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for direction of co-workers and delegation of role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Job Qualifications: Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program, resulting in a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in nursing. Experience: Previous registered nursing experience preferred. Job-related Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; problem-solving abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities; capacity for independent decision-making. Essential Job Functions: Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for each patient according to the nursing process. Provides quality care based on assessment needs and established plans of care. Educates patients and families from admission to discharge. Documents the nursing process accurately and legibly. Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and changes in patients' status. Administers medications and performs treatments safely and accurately. Implements physician orders as written. Ensures that equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care, reporting any malfunctions. Physical Capacity Demand: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Position may require frequent patient handling activity. Psychological/Mental: Requires ability to regulate emotions and exercise self-control in the workplace. Must manage urgent situations calmly and communicate empathically with patients. Displays confidence in interpersonal situations and supervises the work of others professionally. May experience stress related to time management challenges and interactions with individuals in distress. Cognitive: Requires intact cognitive function in attention, memory, perception, and thought. Ability to prioritize work tasks when multiple issues arise is necessary. Strong observational and reporting skills are essential, along with critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities. Environmental: No special considerations or protective equipment required. Position urgency is normal.
