The unit includes a total of 39 beds, with a mix of step-down and medical-surgical patients. Day shift staff comprises 1 charge nurse, 11 registered nurses, and 4 patient care technicians. Night shift staff includes 1 charge nurse, 10 registered nurses, and 4 patient care technicians. The patient ratios are 1:3-4 for step-down patients and 1:4-6 for medical-surgical patients. Equipment used in the unit includes lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable vented patients, and trachs. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Typical procedures performed in this unit include tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes. Candidates should possess flexibility and a high level of clinical competence. Preferred qualifications include previous experience with Cerner. The role may require working six Saturday or Sunday shifts within a six-week period.
