About the Position
Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years required License: Active Illinois license required Certifications: BLS required, CNOR preferred Must-Have: General OR and Trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience required; required surgical case experiences detailed in the description Description: Please review submittal instructions and provide answers upon submission. Position in the Operating Room specialty. Shift consists of four 10-hour days from 06:45 to 17:15. Three years of experience is required. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend requirement is one per month. On-call requirement is one per week; however, it may not occur frequently. The clinician will float within their skill set to meet facility needs, although this rarely happens. Open to accommodating block schedules: No. Candidates must reside outside a specified radius to apply. The active license in hand or in application process is necessary to apply. All requested time off must be approved by the manager. Clinicians may be called off up to a specified number of hours without pay for canceled shifts. Experience with all service lines except cardiovascular is required. Preferred experience includes familiarity with Cerner. Candidates should have required experience in various surgical procedures including: - Laparoscopic assisted cases for bariatric surgeries - Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, and Hernia repair for general surgery - Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, and Laminectomy/discectomy for neurology - Arthroscopy and Carpal Tunnel release for orthopedics - Free Flap - Microvascular for plastic surgery - Organ donation for transplant operations - Cystoscopy and Nephrectomy for urology - Amputations and trauma responses for trauma cases Clinical skills required include: - Administration of blood products - Infection control - Specimen handling and labeling - Universal Protocol - Urinary bladder catheterization The facility is an acute care hospital with a specified number of staffed beds. This is a Magnet hospital and a teaching facility. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Floating is required for all travelers and may include nearby facilities. All submissions must follow strict compliance requirements. Required certifications must be included based on the job description. Background check findings must be disclosed at submission.
