Key Responsibilities
- Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned NICU patients.
- Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with level of practice.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
- Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
- Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.
- Current STABLE (Post-Resuscitation/Pre-Transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification required (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a NICU or related nursing specialty.
- Ability to complete new hire orientation and designated organizational entry competency validation within required timeframes.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Level 3 or Level 4 NICU experience highly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Recent experience in a perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program preferred.
