About the Position
Job Title: RN - ICU/PCU Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in a large Level 1 or 2 facility Description: Position involves working in all ICU and PCU units. Scheduling entails 3 shifts per week from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. EPIC charting experience is required. Staffing needs are reviewed every 4 hours, allowing for potential floating 2-3 times per shift. Weekend requirements may include every other weekend or 6 shifts in a 6-week block. Holiday requirements involve working one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted. Candidates residing within a specified radius will be considered local. All requests for time off must be included during the submission process. Facility may call off one shift per 2 weeks. Required clinical skills include: - IV therapy: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance. - Respiratory support: management of BiPAP and CPAP, care for ventilated patients. - Medication administration: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. - Wound care: care of surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs. - Cardiac monitoring: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. - Adherence to IV insulin protocols. ICU experience is mandatory. Unit details indicate an average patient ratio of 2:1 in the ICU and 5:1 in the PCU. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
