About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an inpatient setting required. License: Valid nursing license required. Certifications: BLS, Chemotherapy certification preferred. Must-Have: Experience in Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Surgical drains, Chest tubes, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, and Wound Care/Wound Vac. Description: We are seeking skilled registered nurses for a medical-surgical oncology unit. The role primarily involves caring for medical-surgical patients with a history of oncology. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. This position requires floating to similar units and alternate care locations as needed. Call is required if scheduled off on a pre-scheduled shift. Every other weekend work is required. Contract staff may be assigned to work during catastrophic events or disasters. The patient population includes individuals with general medical-surgical diagnoses, including acute kidney injury, sepsis, and various malignancies. Contract staff may need to care for patients receiving chemotherapy or biotherapy. Daily census is approximately 42 patients, and during increased census, ratios may be higher. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is expected. Candidates must have experience in chemotherapy administration and managing ports. Charge nurse experience is preferred. The unit utilizes systems for medication and documentation that require training. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to employment. Flexibility to float within/near the facility is essential. All required certifications must be maintained throughout employment.
