Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 4x10-Hour Shifts (7:30–18:00); some early shifts (6:30–17:00); one designated late shift per week to complete the last patient of the day | On-call: 1 night per week | Weekend requirement: 1 weekend every other month | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, stent placement, and rotablator atherectomy
- Scrub and circulate procedures within the Cardiac Cath Lab, including sheath removal, monitoring, and topical hemostasis application
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias, manage Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines, perform cardioversion, and conduct End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
- Maintain infection prevention standards including isolation precautions and proper PPE use
- Document patient care utilizing electronic systems including EPIC, MAC LAB, CUPID, and Pyxis; communicate using SBAR methodology
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience
- Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath procedures, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, and ACT monitoring
- Competency with IV infusion pumps, IV insertion and maintenance, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Ability to float within or near the facility as needed
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with structural heart and advanced procedures including TAVR, Watchman, ASD closures, and valvuloplasty
- Background in vascular procedures such as carotid stenting, endovascular interventions, stent graft placement, and upper/lower extremity angiography
- Familiarity with vascular closure systems, external compression devices, radiation and laser safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocol
- Experience with pre/post procedure care and central venous access including non-tunneled lines and PICC placement
