About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment Manager approval required for first-time travelers Description: This position involves caring for neonates in a high-stakes environment. The facility has 247 licensed beds, including a pediatric trauma center and a chest pain and stroke center. The unit has 53 beds, with an average patient census of 58. Nurses are responsible for managing critically ill patients with various diagnoses, including respiratory distress syndrome, cardiac defects, seizures, and infections. Patient ratios change based on acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Key skills include EPIC experience, management of vasoactive drips, invasive lines, and sterile techniques. You must be proficient in ventilator and trach management, suctioning, feeding tube management, and bedside procedures. Support available includes a unit secretary, charge nurse, intensivist, and in-house APP, among others. The EMR system utilized is EPIC, with specific IV pumps and monitoring equipment required. Weekend rotation involves working 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend. Travelers are expected to work holidays as scheduled, including the Eve and/or Day after holidays. It is preferred that travelers do not have significant RTO needs. Scrubs must be navy or white, with guidelines for dress code adherence. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, accountability, respect, and flexibility. No formal acuity tool will be used in practice.
