About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Float Pool Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS BLS PALS NIHSS TNCC Must-Have: Prefer experience with common drips and standard ER medications. Description: Travelers are expected to float throughout the zone they are hired into. Each zone covers a 60-mile radius from the city center. The traveler is responsible for obtaining housing within this radius. Travelers must be available in-state for the duration of orientation. All travelers must float within the designated region's emergency rooms. The unit treats a variable number of patients per day, typically between 6-49. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-5 based on acuity. The ER has mixed holding areas, and travelers may be required to assist with triage. There is no separate psych/seclusion room available. Security is housed within the ER and available 24/7. Techs support unit activities, including assisting nurses and working in triage. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 for various treatments. RNs are required to draw labs and perform Point of Care testing. The unit operates on a 12-hour shift schedule determined by leadership. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other. Travelers will receive a float assignment indicating their work location. Cancellation policy allows for a certain number of shift cancellations during the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. No home base facility is designated for travelers. RNs will need to interpret telemetry strips with no monitor tech assigned. Transport and imaging services are accessible for necessary procedures. Experience with common diagnoses seen in the ER is beneficial. Travelers will receive department-specific orientation for 2-3 days.
